Potato played a very important role in the history of the Irish people. More than a hundred years ago, the Irish people lived exclusively from potatoes, which were their main food. When, in 1846 was annual potato brewery destroyed by unknown fungi, over 600,000 people died of hunger, and many survivors left their homeland. This is known as “Irish Potato Famine”.
