The human body is a fascinating organ machine that is a complex system in itself. It is full of different unresolved mysteries and complexities. Our human body is the basic support system that we can rely on but it can come as a great shock to many that what they think about the human body is not absolute.
Contagious Laughter
Laughter is contagious is a phrase that most of us have encountered often. It is quite literally true to some context but no one really understands why it is contagious. Several theories have proposed their explanations of this phrase but the most accepted one is that humans are empathetic beings therefore our brains release endorphins when we laugh, making us happy.
Appendix
Appendix for many years was regarded as a body part with absolutely no use. Initially, it was believed to have been the leftover of the process of evolution. It was centered around the belief that this vestigial structure would cease to exist with the slow process of evolution. This was a subject of serious discussions among scientists as appendix baffled scientists with their unknown reason for existence and continue to do so.
Fingerprints
We are all well versed in unlocking our phones and protecting passwords with our fingerprints. With the increasing population, the human race is presented with a huge diversity. One another mystery of the human body revolves around the fact that no two people including identical twins possess the same fingerprints. This can be termed as the direct reason for swirly patterns which are still treated as a mystery to humankind.
Dominant Hand
Hands form an integral part of our lives. They are involved in various processes of life. The concept of the dominant hand is still a mystery to many. As children, most of us enjoyed comparing our dominant hands with our peers’ dominant hands, categorizing ourselves as “right-handed” or “left-handed.” No lucid explanation as such is available to support this claim as to why one hand has better functionality than another in most people.
Crying
Tears help in keeping the eyes healthy. On a physiological level, tears are useful for clearing away irritants in the eyes and they also protect eyes from external irritants. Our tears automatically roll down when we are sad making it quite clear that they are tied to our emotions. It is somewhat strange that only human beings as a species have their tears tied to their emotions and no one else.
Blood Types
There are different blood types such as Type O, Ab, A, and B. These blood types are regarded as a part of evolution. A theory insists on the fact that these different blood types and their emergence is nothing but merely protection against a particular set of infections. However, there has been no definitive explanation as to the reason for the existence of various blood types.
Microbes
Not many are aware that microbes live in and on the human body and while they often aid us in our daily tasks such as digestion, the use of more than half of the microbes found in our body is unknown, as is the reason why we share a symbiotic relationship with them.
