The Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris standing at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle. It honors those who fought and died for France during the French Revolution and the war of Napoleon. It has all the names of all the French Victories and is inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. It witnessed Napoleon’s funeral on 15th December 1840 and the world war I victory parade in 1919. It also has the tomb of an unknown soldier from the first world war in its vault.
