They are located on the Niagara River which drains some of the most famous lakes in North America such as Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and has a maximum drop of 167 feet (51 meters). Kaieteur Falls
Kaieteur Falls is a waterfall located in the central part of Guyana, a small country in the northern part of South America. It’s located within the Amazon rainforest. The waterfall has a total height of 226 meters (741 feet) which consists of a single drop. Because it’s so wide, it’s one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world with a flow rate of 663 cubic meters per second (23,400 cubic feet per second).
It’s the centerpiece of the Kaieteur National Park and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. Despite its remote location, it can easily be reached via the Kaieteur International Airport nearby.
Snoqualmie Falls
Snoqualmie Falls is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the State of Washington in the utmost northwestern corner of the United States. It’s visited by over 1.5 million people every year. This waterfall is world-famous for its feature in the cult mystery-horror television series “Twin Peaks” along with the city nearby with the same name. The falls are located just east of the largest city in the state, Seattle, at a distance of about 45 kilometers (28 miles). It features a single drop with a height of 82 meters (268 feet).
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls are one of the most famous waterfalls in the world and are located on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe in southern Africa. It’s located on the Zambezi River and with a total width of 5,604 feet (1,708 meters) is considered to be some of the biggest waterfalls in the world. Just like Lake Victoria, the waterfall has been named after Queen Victoria. This magnificent feat of nature was named after her by famous Scottish missionary and explorer David Livingstone who is believed to have been the first European to see the waterfalls in 1855.
Tugela Falls
Tugela Falls is located in South Africa and is considered to be the second-highest waterfalls in the world, behind the Angel Falls in Venezuela, even though some sources claim they are the highest in the world. The waterfalls consist of 5 distinct separate drops and have a combined height of 3,110 feet (948 meters) with the longest drop being 1,348 feet (411 meters). They can be found at the Royal Natal National Park in KwaZulu-Natal Province of South Africa and look absolutely astounding.
Yosemite Falls
The Yosemite Falls are located inside the Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nevada, a famous mountain range in California on the west coast of the United States. They are one of the most fascinating attractions in the park. These falls consist of three parts, the Upper Yosemite Fall, the Middle Cascades, and the Lower Yosemite Fall. The total drop is an astounding 2,425 feet (739 meters) with the longest drop being 1,430 feet (436 meters).
Iguazu Falls
The Iguazu Falls are located on the border of Argentina and Brazil, in the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná. These waterfalls divide the Iguazu River into the Upper Iguazu River and the Lower Iguazu River. These huge waterfalls consist of a total of 275 drops and have a staircase type of character. These steps have a height of between 115 and 131 feet (35 and 40 meters).
