Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef system in the world, located in the Coral Sea off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The reef is made up of more than 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands. In addition, it is spread over an area of about 344,400 square kilometer. The Great Barrier Reef is the world’s largest single structure formed by living organisms, which can be seen from space. Especially, this reef is made up of billions of tiny organisms known as coral polyps.
Aurora Borealis
If you’ve ever been near the North Pole, there are often beautiful light shows in the sky. These lights are called the aurora borealis. The aurora borealis is best seen at night, when it is actually caused by the Sun. The Sun doesn’t send out the same amount of energy all the time. When the magnetosphere is disturbed due to the solar wind, we see the light of the aurora borealis.
Auroras are sometimes seen in latitudes below the auroral zone, when a geomagnetic storm temporarily enlarges the auroral oval. Large geomagnetic storms are most common during the peak of the 11-year sunspot cycle, or three years after the peak.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls is a waterfall in southern Africa on the Zambezi River. It provides habitat for many unique species of plants and animals. The width of the Victoria Falls is 1,708 meters, due to which it is considered one of the largest waterfalls in the world. It is located on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Also, Victoria Falls is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. It is the main waterfall on the Zambezi River in Africa.
Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in Arizona. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles in length and 18 miles in width, and has a depth of over a mile, or 1,857 meters. It is noted for its great shape and color. The Grand Canyon is one of the most studied landscapes in the world. In its general color, the Grand Canyon is red, but each layer or group of layers has a distinctive hue. These layers are gray, delicate green and pink, or in depth, brown, slate-grey and purple.
Parícutin
Parícutin (Volcan de Paricutin) is a cinder cone volcano located in the state of Michoacan, Mexico. It is located near the city of Urupán and about 322 kilometer west of Mexico City. It has been established as a natural wonder. In 1943 the volcano suddenly erupted from a local farmer’s cornfield. Due to which it became the wonderful Parícutin. It is the youngest volcano to form in the Northern Hemisphere. It attracted both popular and scientific attention.
Mount Everest
Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth. It is on the summit of the Great Himalayas in Southern Asia. Moreover, the peak of Everest passes through the China and Nepal border. Especially, its peak/height is 8,848.86 meters which has been recently established by Nepalese and Chinese authorities. Mount Everest is made up of several layers of rock folded back on itself. Its summit is covered with hard snow. This snow is 5 to 20 feet thick which fluctuates annually. Reinhold Messner made the first solo climb of Mount Everest in 1980.
Harbor of Rio de Janeiro
The Harbor of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil is known as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. It is also known as Guanabara Bay. Additionally, Guanabara Bay is easily accessible by ships, which is surrounded by high mountains. It was created by erosion from the Atlantic Ocean.
