The first lists of man-made Wonders of the World were made more than 2,000 years ago by Greeks. Unfortunately, those wonders no longer exist except the Great Pyramid of Giza. Those were destroyed by the natural or man-made devastation. Many lists of man-made wonders have been made since then. Let’s build again, put together the amazing wonders of the world those are human-made.

Petra

The fabled “rose red city, half as old as time”, Petra, was the ancient capital of the Nabataean kingdom. Undoubtedly it is Jordan’s most valuable treasure and major tourist site. A vast, unique city, carved into the side of the Wadi Musa Canyon centuries ago. It was an important junction for the silk and spice routes that linked China, India, and southern Arabia with Greece, Egypt, and Rome. Al Khazneh (“The Treasury”‎) is the most elaborate building in Petra, carved out of a sandstone rock face.

Easter Island

The world wonder Moai are monolithic statues situated Chilean Polynesian Island of Easter Island. This island is surprisingly one of the most isolated islands on Earth. The statues were carved by the Rapa Nui people between the year 1250 AD and 1500 CE. Moai represented the deceased ancestors as well as regarded as the embodiment of a powerful living of former chiefs. It was the symbol of authority and power.

The tallest Moai erected named Paro, was almost 10 meters (33 ft) high and weighed 75 tons. When Europeans first visited the island, the statues were still standing but most would be cast down during later conflicts between different clans. Now about 50 Moai have been re-erected on Easter Island and other museums.

Parthenon, Acropolis

The Acropolis of Athens is one of the most famous Parthenon in the world and a visit to Athens without visiting this temple is like visiting Louvre museum without seeing Monalisa. The construction work of this great Roman monument started around 447 BC and completed in 432 BC.

The Parthenon was built to reside a massive statue of Athena Parthenon made of ivory, silver, and gold. Regrettably, in the 5th century, the statue was looted by one of the Roman Emperors, and taken to Constantinople (now Istanbul) and later destroyed. The pantheons name is attached with the great Greek philosopher Socrates and Plato.

Teotihuacan

A new civilization arose in the valley of Mexico in the 2nd century BC. This civilization built the thriving metropolis of Teotihuacán and its huge step pyramids known as the pyramid of the sun. The Pyramid of the Sun was built around 100 AD and is 75 meters (246 ft (75) high. Thus making it the largest building in Teotihuacán and one of the largest in Mesoamerica. And it is the third largest pyramid in the world.

The construction of the smaller Pyramid of the Moon started a century later and was finished in 450 A.D. The pyramids were honored and utilized by the Aztecs and became a center of pilgrimage.

Pyramids of Giza

The great pyramid of Giza is unarguably the greatest & most amazing wonder of the world. The Giza necropolis is situated in the immediate vicinity of the southwestern suburbs of Cairo. The pyramids in Giza were built over the span of three generations – by Khufu, his second reigning son Khafre, and Menkaure.

Over 2 million blocks of stone were used to construct the pyramid, during a 20 year period concluding around 2560 BC. It is an awe-inspiring 139 meters (455 feet) high. It is the largest pyramid in Egypt. It is only the remaining wonder of the ancient seven wonders of the world.

Colosseum

The Colosseum is the largest and most famous amphitheater ever built. It is also known as the  Flavian amphitheater. Its construction was started by Roman emperor Vespasian of the Flavian dynasty in 72 AD and was finished by his son Titus in 80 AD.  Over 9,000 wild animals were killed during the inaugural games of the Amphitheatre. The Colosseum was capable of housing about 50,000 spectators who could enter the building through more than 80 entrances.
