Lotus
The lotus is one of two extant species of aquatic plant in the family Nelumbonaceae. It is also known as water lily, Indian lotus and sacred lotus. The lotus is considered a sacred flower in many religions. In addition, lotus plants are adapted to grow in slow flowing rivers and ponds. The lotus plant grows in water up to 8 feet deep, and the minimum depth is about 1 foot. Additionally, such a low water level, which heats up more quickly, is helpful for its better growth and flowering.
